I’ll admit, I’m not usually a HUGE fan of awards shows – but I am a fan of live tweeting, and this years Grammys gave me a ton to work with because it. was. awesome. I LOVED IT! My favorite moment of the night was when Ed Sheeran and John Mayer teamed up for a duet of “Thinking Out Loud” – my favorite song from 2014/2015. Of course I was singing along to Hozier’s “Take Me To Church” because I absolutely live for his voice, but I think what really stole the show was the way the Grammy’s became an outlet for social causes that are so relevant for us today. From #HandsUpDontShoot to Domestic Violence Awareness and #BlackLivesMatter, I really love the way they used their huge platform to speak out about the things that are affecting our everyday lives.
Not trying to get too preachy, I’ll leave that to Queen Bey who slayed the stage, as always. And of course Kanye West who almost stole Beck’s moment (that belonged to Beyonce – you were thinking it too so shut up) was one of the most entertaining moments of the night. OH! And Jamie Foxx doing his Ray Charles impression. Now that made my night.
OK! Moving on to the good stuff 🙂 My favorite looks of the night! There were lots of hits and plenty of misses, but here’s who got it right in my opinion:
Giuliana Rancic – My hometown girl got a lot of slack for this number on Twitter tonight, but watching E! Red Carpet, I thought she looked absolutely amazing – and yall know I love a jumpsuit!
Gwen Stefani – Slayed. Head-To-Toe. From the red carpet to her onstage look with Adam Levine, I loved it all. I’m so here for you Gwen! #CoolMomAward
Katy Perry – YES. Her red carpet look was dripping in glam, the purple hair was spot on and of course her onstage all white cape look (which everyone’s been calling the Solange dress, but don’t forget Lupita Nyong’o did it first!) was exquisite. She took me to the heavens and above in that one!
Jessie J – First I want to say, WOW. Then I want to say, Jessie J is so underrated, it’s insane. Yall are going to respect her in 2015, because she is everything and her voice is impeccable. And obviously, so is her style. So boom. *drops mic*
Beyonce – I mean, did you think I would make a favorite looks list without the Queen? Absolutely NOT! Was this my absolutely favorite look of the night? Not necessarily, but Bey can do no wrong in my eyes so forgive me for my Bey bias. I am President of the BeyHive for crying out loud! But my favorite part of this look were the jewels! Beyonce never disappoints when it comes to her ring game! #PutAFewRingsOnIt
Taylor Swift – How can you not love her?! The teal high-low gown and the matching earrings were a love for me tonight. Her beauty look was on point and as always, T-Swift was having the time of her life. Loved it, love her. End of story.
Meghan Trainor – She brought that bass alright! I loved this look, the sheer bottom gowns were definitely all over the red carpet tonight, but I thought Meghan walked away a winner for this look, with or without a Grammy.
